We are continuing our series of the teaching of the Holy spirit but this time we are in part 4!!! In this segment, we shall be discussing the symbols of the Holy Spirit!!
SYMBOLS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT(Cont’d)
Acts2:1-8, Acts1:8
In our last teaching we spoke on 2 symbols of the Holy Spirit which is FIRE AND DOVE. Now we shall be moving ahead as we consider further symbols:
3)WATER
Why is water used as a symbol of the Holy Spirit? Water is indispensable to life, so is also the Holy Spirit to a believer. By continually being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, we maintain a clean state of spiritual health- 1cor12:13, John4:13-14.
Water is an agent for cleaning. Whilst it is true that it is the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all transgressions, it is the Holy Spirit that gives us spiritual freshness and ensures that we do not contaminate ourselves anymore.
Jesus Christ when presenting the Holy Spirit’s importance to the survival of a believer says: “He that believeth on Me, as the Scriptures has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water”. (John7:37-38)
You are to spring forth living waters, ie. Edifying thoughts, acts, and ways of life that sow seeds of salvation in others. What kind of water is springing forth from your life? Is it that which poisons others, pull down God’s work or that of self destruction? I pray that God will help us all IJN!!!!
4) WINE
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein in excess; but be filled with the Spirit” (Epe5:18). The fullness of the Holy Spirit in some cases compares with drunkenness (Acts2:12-13)
Whilst the drinking of physical wine brings temporary happiness to the drinker, the Holy Spirit brings the Joy of Heaven which cannot be described in words to the believer.
Whilst the physical wine sometimes anaesthetize the drinker, being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit immune you against every satanic arrow.
Finally, as the physical wine gives seeming boldness, the Holy Spirit is a spirit of divine boldness to preach, pray and help set the captives free. The Scriptures say in 2Tim1:7-” For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”.
5) RAIN
” For as the rain cometh down and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater”. Isaiah55:10; Hosea6:3.
As the earth can neither bear fruit nor sustain any kind of life, unless it receives rain, so also is the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer who has not received the Holy Ghost baptism, cannot bear spiritual fruits. Any church worker who has not been baptised in the Holy Spirit would just be working with mere head knowledge and not as one inspired by the Holy Spirit.
A tree that is not well watered may not survive in harsh weather. Therefore, you also need to be soaked in the Holy Ghost power so as to survive in unfavourable circumstances, particularly these times of intense satanic activities. 2Tim3:1-5.
“Latter Rain” a popular phrase in the Scriptures is a comparison of God’s outpouring of the Holy Ghost in the time of the apostles and now. This, explains that ever-increasing presence of the Holy Ghost is present everywhere. I therefore command the Holy Ghost fire to purify your life to fit into God’s design for your life….(*praying*).
Beloved, I believe I have been able to impart into you another session of teaching that has had so much impact on my life and has made me 2 excel bountifully beyond measures. I pray as you have read and continuing reading the Spirit of God will minister more to you as the bible says in Ezekiel2:2- “And the Spirit entered me as spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me”.
