We are continuing our series of the teaching of the Holy spirit but this time we are in part 6!!! In this segment, we shall be discussing about how to receive Holy Ghost baptism; it is one of the most confusing topics about the Holy Ghost… I am going to try and break it to the simplest form and the Lord will help us in Jesus name!!!!
HOW TO RECEIVE THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST
Acts10:42-48
In part 5, it has been established that, as long as we give our lives to Christ, we are entitled to the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Now the question is, how do I receive the actual baptism? The Holy Spirit baptism, for the purpose of emphasis, is not an experience you can say you received by faith. It is a practically experience that physically manifests an outward sign of speaking in unknown tongues. The scriptural backing for this is the experience of the Apostles at Pentecost.
Although it is true that God can never be boxed into any theological container, he is never-the-less a God of order. God is not a magician. It is for this reason that anybody who will succeed in the school of spiritual growth must first learn the lesson of obedience. To obey, is to simply follow God’s laws. Also, it is in obeying that you have strength.
The following are the conditions for receiving the Holy Ghost baptism.
1) You must be born again- John3:3-7
The Holy Ghost baptism is strictly for the children of God. Unless you have given your life to Christ, you have no part in this baptism. You must however note that, God in his sovereignty may baptize a person with the Holy Spirit immediately the person gives his life to Christ.
There are also examples of people who received the gift of the Holy Spirit instantaneously.
2) Believe the experience is for you- Acts2:17-22, Joel2:28-32
The devil in his craftiness has sidelined many believers for years and has successfully denied them of this great source of power. He teaches them that although baptism of the Holy Spirit is a reality, it is not for all. As such, these people cannot be beneficiaries of this precious privilege.
You as an individual must have absolute faith that the privilege is for you.
3) Have a desire to be a recipient- Luke24:48-49, Acts1:4-5, 12-13, 2:1-4
Now that you know and believe this spiritual provision is for you, you must covet or desire. To experience it.
4) Repent of all unconfessed sins- Acts2:38
Although God loves you, he hates every sin abiding in your life. Any unconfessed sin will give the accuser of the brethren a leverage to block any spiritual pipeline and this can prevent the flow of God’s power in your life. Acts2:38 says- “Then Peter said unto them,”Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”. God cannot and will not give the baptism of the Holy Spirit to those who have not received the remission of sins.
5) Ask without doubting- Acts10:44-48
Every believer must know that God’s will is what he states expressly in the bible.
Consequently, any suggestion that will make you think or act contrary to that, under the guise of the thought that after all it might not be true, is not from God. Luke11:11-13.
Although it is true for some reasons, an individual may have difficulty in receiving the Holy Ghost baptism, (We shall know why when we get to Part9; Talking about Hindrances to Receiving the Holy Ghost baptism); Yet, it is not right to think that the promise of God is false or the promise is not for you…
Beloved, I believe I have been able to impart into you another session of teaching that has had so much impact on my life and has made me 2 excel bountifully beyond measures.
