TWENTY REASONS WHY BELIEVERS SHOULD SPEAK IN TONGUES
Acts10:43-48
In Mark16:17- ” And these signs shall follow them that believe: In My Name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues”.
As we continue in our series of the person of the Holy Spirit, I believe we now know that the Holy Spirit is a reality and not just an abstraction. When He comes to your life, He comes with a visible presence. Since the day of Pentecost, the most glaring evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the gift of speaking in tongues.
In this segment, we are focusing on twenty reasons why the believers should speak in tongues. This should effectively put to rest any doubt about the Bible’s position on speaking in tongues. This issue at hand is not what a church doctrine says but however what the Bible says. May I at this point state that every true doctrine should have its basis and backing from the Bible….. In 2Tim3:16- ” All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for DOCTRINE, for REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS”. And so therefore, we shall be standing on what the Bible says….. So here are twenty reasons Biblical reasons with references to why a believer should speak in tongues:
1) Speaking with tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance is the unique spiritual gift identified with the Church of Jesus Christ- Acts2:4, 1Cor12-14
Prior to the day of Pentecost, all other gifts, miracles and spiritual manifestations, have been in evidence during the days of the Old Testament times. On the day of Pentecost, this new phenomenon came into evidence and became uniquely identified with the Church.
2) Speaking in tongues was ordained by God for the Church- 1Cor12:28, 14:21.
3) Speaking with tongues is a specific fulfillment with prophecy- 1Cor14:21, Isaiah28:11, Joel2:28-29, Acts2:16-18
4) It provides a way to pray and give thanks- 1Cor14:15-17
5) Isaiah prophetically refers to speaking in tongues as a “refreshing”- Isaiah28:12, 1Cor14:21
6) Speaking with tongues is a means of keeping us free from the contamination of the ungodly, the profane, and all the vulgar talks around us- 1Cor14:28
7) Isaiah prophetically refers to speaking in tongues as, a “rest”- Isaiah28:12, 1Cor14:21
8) The Apostle Paul ordered that speaking in tongues should not be forbidden- 1Cor14:39
9) Speaking in tongues is one of the gifts of the Spirit- 1Cor12:10
10) The Apostle Paul desired that all would speak in tongues, it is one of the gifts of the Spirit- 1cor14:5
11) Speaking with tongues is a spiritual gift for “Singing in the Spirit”- 1Cor24:18
12) Speaking in tongues is a means, which the Holy Spirit intercedes through us in prayers- Rom8:28, 1Cor14:14
13) Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift for communicating with God in private worship- 1Cor14:2
14) Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift for spiritual edification of the Church- 1Cor14:5
15) Speaking in tongues is a birth sign of the believer- John7:38-39, Mark 16:17
16) Speaking in tongues is a sign to the unbeliever- 1Cor14:22
17) Speaking in tongues is a proof of the resurrection and glorification of Jesus Christ- John16:7, Acts2:22-24, 32-33
18) Speaking in tongues is an evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit- Acts2:4, 10:45-46, 19:6
19) Speaking in tongues is a means of preaching to men of other languages- Acts2:6-11
20) Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift for self -edification- 1Cor14:4.
Beloved, we can see here that a believer is meant to have the gift of speaking in tongues in order to grow in Christ and bear fruit and moreover, it is a power for effective service. May I tell you something, since I have been speaking in tongues, the devil has not for one day understood my language because speaking in tongues gives you a direct link to the Throne of Grace……. So therefore, under the auction of the Holy Spirit, I decree that your life will reflect the power of the world to come in Jesus name…. You are blessed……..
Beloved, I believe I have been able to impart into you another session of teaching that has had so much impact on my life and has made me 2 excel bountifully beyond measures.
