SPIRIT FILLED PRAYER LIFE

Rom8:26-27

The Holy Spirit will teach you what to pray for, and when to pray. People often complain; ” I don’t know how to pray”. Another person says, ” I can’t pray for long”. All these happen, when one is praying with his power with just human understanding. This unfortunately is very limited.

When you have partnership with the Holy Spirit, you then begin to pray at a level far above your own ability or natural understanding. No one can pray always, or pray without ceasing, without receiving help from the Holy Spirit. This is one of the reasons why Apostle Paul admonished the believers; ” Quench not the Spirit”. 1Thessa5:19.

 

DAILY GUIDANCE

Rom8:14, Jn16:13

In order to live daily as a Christian, you must be led by the Holy Spirit….

 

Also:

1) The Holy Spirit, teaches believers-Jn14:26, 1Jn2:27

2) The Holy Spirit, is a Spirit of love and imparts this love into the hearts of believers…. Rom5:5

3) The Holy Spirit, conforms you into the image of Christ… 2Cor2:18, Phil3:10

4) The Holy Spirit, reveals deep and secret things to believers… Amos3:7, Dan2:22

5) The Holy Spirit, gives utterance at the appropriate times especially when in trouble…. Acts 8:22, 7:55, Matt10:19-20

6) The Holy Spirit, restrains the power of satan…. Isa59:19, 2thessa2:7-14

7) The Holy Spirit, will minister to Israel during the great tribulation… Joel2:28-32

8) The Holy Spirit, will minister to Israel during the millennium….. Zech12:10, Eze37:13-14

9) The Holy Spirit, will someday raise the bodies of all past believers…. Rom8:11

10) The Holy Spirit helps our infirmities…. Rom8:26

11) The Holy Spirit comforts believers…. Jn14:26

 

Actually, the Holy Ghost does far more than these in the life of a believer… The two most crucial things in the marriage between the Holy Spirit and the believer are TOTAL SURRENDEREDNESS AND OBEDIENCE…. Once these are guaranteed, the benefits you reap are infinite…….

Right about now, I decree that your prayer life be energized and even more in Jesus name…. May God give you a listening and obedient spirit in Jesus name….. You are blessed….. Jesus is Lord…….

The baptism of the Holy Spirit provided personal evidence/ assurance for the disciples that the risen Christ has now being glorified. Jesus glorification implies that he is in the presence of the Father, thereby having all authority and power. The Scripture amply supports this…. Phil2:9-10, Heb1:3-4, 1Pet3:22

It is this glorification of Christ in heaven, that opened the way for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit- Jn7:39

Therefore the Pentecost provided a reassurance for all the disciples and every believer today that the experience is an assurance of being part of the triumphant church..

 

SUPERNATURAL EXPERIENCE

The baptism of the Holy Spirit provides a believer with a foretaste of an entirely different power… This, the Bible calls, the power of the world to come – Heb6:5

With this experience, the believer enters a new kind of supernatural life where the supernatural becomes natural to him….

As one already baptized with the Holy Spirit, your praying, evangelism, and general Christian living, should be supernaturally guided, powered and protected.. You are no longer satisfied with the mere norms, doctrines and ceremonies….

The life of the disciples of Christ after the Pentecost, was where the supernatural became natural… Am I believer, moving in that supernatural realm or in man-made doctrines…… You re blessed…….

THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE BELIEVER

Jesus Christ left a definite promise of the Holy Spirit for believers. The question then is, what is the baptism of the Holy Spirit supposed to do to a believer? In this section, we shall concentrate on those things that the Holy Spirit should do in the life of a believer.

 

POWER TO WITNESS

In Acts1:8- ” But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the uttermost end of the earth”. 

The implication of these promise is in three fold:

Empowerment of each believer by the Holy Ghost, the believer so empowered, is now to witness for Christ, and the witness should in turn become another witness, by the same power.

The word power is translated from the Greek word”Dunamis”. At new birth, what a believer receives is the authority of sonship. He no longer under the yoke of sin and satan.

The disciples of Christ, had this authority; but on the day of the Pentecost, they went into a new spiritual realm- they got power(dunamis).

 

” And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all”. Acts4:33

 

This is a result of the marriage between a believer and the Holy Spirit. Power to witness. The key of this spiritual power is the baptism of the Holy Spirit…. There is no other power….. You are blessed….. Jesus is Lord…………….

We are continuing our series of the teaching of the Holy spirit but this time we are in part 10!!! 3) HIDDEN SATANIC COVENANTS

Going back to our anchor scripture, 1Cor10:21- ” You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons”. Hidden Satanic Covenants could serve as a blockage to a person who wants to receive the Holy Ghost baptism. When you see with witchcraft or other spirits speaking in tongues, it is not the tongue of the Holy Spirit because God does not dwell in the same place with satan…. Deut18:9-13….

Not until such an individual confesses Christ truly, and undertakes a proper deliverance, he will never be filled with the genuine baptism of fire….

 

4) IMPURE MOTIVES

God has his own purpose for baptising his children with the Holy Spirit. However, over the ages, satan the enemy of man has inspired man to seek the Holy Ghost experience for purposes other than that intended by God. Acts8:17-24

God cannot be mocked, he therefore knows your intent; especially when all your thoughts are centered around using the Spirit and Gifts of God as a money spinner.

 

5) REBELLION

Some people have failed to experience the baptism of the Holy Ghost because of spiritual rebellion. They have refused to purge themselves of some false doctrines which they were fed with at a certain stage in their lives. For example, some people teach that, the Holy Ghost baptism was specifically for the period immediately after Jesus Christ died, and that speaking in tongues is not for today’s believers.

All these, are satanic doctrines and as long as a person still believes in them, he will be unable to experience the powerful manifestation of God…. Rom1:21-24……

 I pray for every one, that every wall hindering your movement is cut down in Jesus name……. You are blessed!!!!! Jesus is Lord!!!!!!

HINDRANCES TO RECEIVING THE HOLY SPIRIT

Acts8:17-24

In 1Cor10:21- ” You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons”.

 

You already know by know follow our subsequent series that the Holy Ghost baptism is for all the children of God. Joel2:28 says “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams and your young men shall see visions”. This is the promise of God. Jesus Christ even amplified this prophecy when he shouted in John7:38- “He that believeth on Me, as the Scriptures has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water”.

Yet, in spite of this divine promise, many believers continue to live the spiritual poverty line with the attendant sufferings from the hands of the oppressors, since they have no Holy Ghost fire to fight them back with. When such believers try to fight back, their punches are too feeble to make any impact. Have you been fighting back or you just look in confusion as the enemies of your soul lead you to captivity.

Without the genuine baptism of the Holy Ghost you cannot fight “the good fight.” There are some powers, whose function is to hinder man from receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit…… 

Now what are the conditions that hinder man from not receiving the Holy Spirit:

 

1) HAVE YOU ACCEPTED JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOUR

The first and fundamental condition for anyone to receive the genuine baptism of the Holy Spirit is for the person to be born again… You must have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and saviour.. As long as you have not done so, you are not qualified to receive the genuine baptism of the Holy Ghost… It is as simple as you cannot enter any university in any country; for instance, Nigeria; without Jamb or at most five(5) credits including english n mathematics in WAEC, NECO, GCE…. Also, you will still write the university exam, even in a polythenic, you will write Poly jamb.. This are the first steps with regarding your admission to any university, so also, is receiving the genuine baptism of the Holy Ghost, the first step is being born again.. In Rom8:16- ” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God”. For more emphasis read Rom8:11-17.

 

2) IGNORANCE OF THE PERSONALITY AND PROMISE OF GOD

In Hosea4:6a- ” My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. It is difficult if not impossible to move in the power of the Holy Spirit if you are ignorant of him…. Even when God decides to use his sovereign power to pour the Holy Ghost fire upon you, you may scuttle the divine decision and begin to resist. For, as long as the believer remains ignorant about the personality and power of the Holy Spirit they will continue to operate at the valley level…. Read Acts19:1-8

TWENTY REASONS WHY BELIEVERS SHOULD SPEAK IN TONGUES

Acts10:43-48

 In Mark16:17- ” And these signs shall follow them that believe: In My Name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues”.

 

As we continue in our series of the person of the Holy Spirit, I believe we now know that the Holy Spirit is a reality and not just an abstraction. When He comes to your life, He comes with a visible presence. Since the day of Pentecost, the most glaring evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the gift of speaking in tongues.

In this segment, we are focusing on twenty reasons why the believers should speak in tongues. This should effectively put to rest any doubt about the Bible’s position on speaking in tongues. This issue at hand is not what a church doctrine says but however what the Bible says. May I at this point state that every true doctrine should have its basis and backing from the Bible….. In 2Tim3:16- ” All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for DOCTRINE, for REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS”. And so therefore, we shall be standing on what the Bible says….. So here are twenty reasons Biblical reasons with references to why a believer should speak in tongues:

 

1) Speaking with tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance is the unique spiritual gift identified with the Church of Jesus Christ- Acts2:4, 1Cor12-14

Prior to the day of Pentecost, all other gifts, miracles and spiritual manifestations, have been in evidence during the days of the Old Testament times. On the day of Pentecost, this new phenomenon came into evidence and became uniquely identified with the Church.

2) Speaking in tongues was ordained by God for the Church- 1Cor12:28, 14:21.

3) Speaking with tongues is a specific fulfillment with prophecy- 1Cor14:21, Isaiah28:11, Joel2:28-29, Acts2:16-18

4) It provides a way to pray and give thanks- 1Cor14:15-17

5) Isaiah prophetically refers to speaking in tongues as a “refreshing”- Isaiah28:12, 1Cor14:21

6) Speaking with tongues is a means of keeping us free from the contamination of the ungodly, the profane, and all the vulgar talks around us- 1Cor14:28

7) Isaiah prophetically refers to speaking in tongues as, a “rest”- Isaiah28:12, 1Cor14:21

8) The Apostle Paul ordered that speaking in tongues should not be forbidden- 1Cor14:39

9) Speaking in tongues is one of the gifts of the Spirit- 1Cor12:10

10) The Apostle Paul desired that all would speak in tongues, it is one of the gifts of the Spirit- 1cor14:5

11) Speaking with tongues is a spiritual gift for “Singing in the Spirit”- 1Cor24:18

12) Speaking in tongues is a means, which the Holy Spirit intercedes through us in prayers- Rom8:28, 1Cor14:14

13) Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift for communicating with God in private worship- 1Cor14:2

14) Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift for spiritual edification of the Church- 1Cor14:5

15) Speaking in tongues is a birth sign of the believer- John7:38-39, Mark 16:17

16) Speaking in tongues is a sign to the unbeliever- 1Cor14:22

17) Speaking in tongues is a proof of the resurrection and glorification of Jesus Christ- John16:7, Acts2:22-24, 32-33

18) Speaking in tongues is an evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit- Acts2:4, 10:45-46, 19:6

19) Speaking in tongues is a means of preaching to men of other languages- Acts2:6-11

20) Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift for self -edification- 1Cor14:4.

 

Beloved, we can see here that a believer is meant to have the gift of speaking in tongues in order to grow in Christ and bear fruit and moreover, it is a power for effective service. May I tell you something, since I have been speaking in tongues, the devil has not for one day understood my language because speaking in tongues gives you a direct link to the Throne of Grace……. So therefore, under the auction of the Holy Spirit, I decree that your life will reflect the power of the world to come in Jesus name…. You are blessed……..

HOW TO RECEIVE THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST

Acts10:42-48

We started this aspect in part 6 and so therefore we shall be continuing from there. 

RECEIVING THE HOLY GHOST BAPTISM

An individual can receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost through any of these methods:

1) While praying by yourself asking God in faith. Acts 2:1-10

2) While listening to the Word of God with an open heart. Acts10:34-38

3) While being part of a group praying. Acts2:1-10

4) While reading the word alone and meditating on same.

5) While being led in a series of prayer session by an anointed person. Acts2:1-10

6) Through laying-on of hands by an anointed person. Acts9:17-18

7) While singing praises unto the Lord.

Acts2:47

The above list, it must be emphasized, is in no wise exhaustive. There have been people who got the Holy Ghost baptism while in their sleep and they woke up and started speaking in tongues to the real world.

However, the state of the heart of the individual is of paramount importance.

 

CAUTION

1) Never ask for the baptism of the Holy Ghost for wrong reasons like; commercial purposes, power show, to oppress people, to use it as a medium to get whatever you want etc.

2) Beware of who prays for you and where you go for prayer. There could be a transfer of spirit through laying-on of hands.

3) Never ask with a revengeful heart; an automatic door will be opened to evil spirits.

4) Anyone who has been highly involved in demonic or occultic activities in the past, must be careful a strange spirit, speaking in tongues through him. This is a common thing with those operating with witchcraft and familiar spirit. IT IS ADVISABLE FOR SUCH AN INDIVIDUAL TO UNDERGO A THROUGH DELIVERANCE BEFORE ASKING FOR THE HOLY GHOST BAPTISM!

 

MANIFESTATION AT BAPTISM

The Holy Spirit is a gentle Spirit. Although people receive the Holy Spirit peacefully, it is not uncommon to witness a mild commotion at baptism of some other believers. You may be wondering and asking why? Well, most of the time, those who experience appear violent are people who still need to undergo further deliverance, as what takes place is usually a case of forceful ejection of strange spirits by the power of the Holy Ghost.

I will love to drop my pen here, as we have come to the end of Part 7, but I decree upon your life that from now on, you shall become a FIRE EMITTER in the name of Jesus…… Also, every one still oppressed of the devil I command Obadiah1:17 to come alive in you in Jesus name….. You are free…. Thank you Jesus!!!!

HOW TO RECEIVE THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST

Acts10:42-48

 

In part 5, it has been established that, as long as we give our lives to Christ, we are entitled to the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Now the question is, how do I receive the actual baptism? The Holy Spirit baptism, for the purpose of emphasis, is not an experience you can say you received by faith. It is a practically experience that physically manifests an outward sign of speaking in unknown tongues. The scriptural backing for this is the experience of the Apostles at Pentecost.

Although it is true that God can never be boxed into any theological container, he is never-the-less a God of order. God is not a magician. It is for this reason that anybody who will succeed in the school of spiritual growth must first learn the lesson of obedience. To obey, is to simply follow God’s laws. Also, it is in obeying that you have strength. 

The following are the conditions for receiving the Holy Ghost baptism.

1) You must be born again- John3:3-7

The Holy Ghost baptism is strictly for the children of God. Unless you have given your life to Christ, you have no part in this baptism. You must however note that, God in his sovereignty may baptize a person with the Holy Spirit immediately the person gives his life to Christ.

There are also examples of people who received the gift of the Holy Spirit instantaneously.

2) Believe the experience is for you- Acts2:17-22, Joel2:28-32

 The devil in his craftiness has sidelined many believers for years and has successfully denied them of this great source of power. He teaches them that although baptism of the Holy Spirit is a reality, it is not for all. As such, these people cannot be beneficiaries of this precious privilege.

You as an individual must have absolute faith that the privilege is for you.

3) Have a desire to be a recipient- Luke24:48-49, Acts1:4-5, 12-13, 2:1-4

Now that you know and believe this spiritual provision is for you, you must covet or desire. To experience it.

4) Repent of all unconfessed sins- Acts2:38

Although God loves you, he hates every sin abiding in your life. Any unconfessed sin will give the accuser of the brethren a leverage to block any spiritual pipeline and this can prevent the flow of God’s power in your life. Acts2:38 says- “Then Peter said unto them,”Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”. God cannot and will not give the baptism of the Holy Spirit to those who have not received the remission of sins.

5) Ask without doubting- Acts10:44-48

Every believer must know that God’s will is what he states expressly in the bible.

Consequently, any suggestion that will make you think or act contrary to that, under the guise of the thought that after all it might not be true, is not from God. Luke11:11-13.

Although it is true for some reasons, an individual may have difficulty in receiving the Holy Ghost baptism, (We shall know why when we get to Part9; Talking about Hindrances to Receiving the Holy Ghost baptism); Yet, it is not right to think that the promise of God is false or the promise is not for you…

IS THE HOLY GHOST BAPTISM FOR ALL??

Acts2:1-4

The lord spoke through his servant Joel in Joel2:28-29;”And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams and your young men shall see visions; and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit”.

Until he prophecy of prophet Joel quoted above, the Holy Spirit was known to have restricted his manifestations tot he prophets and to the individuals chosen by God for a particular service. Such men were Moses, Samson, David etc., and as soon as they completed their assignments, the Holy Spirit invariably left them. However, with the prophecy of Joel, it became clear that this sporadic manifestation was merely a pointer to a greater and indiscriminating outpouring that was to come.

To underscore this prophecy, our Lord Jesus Christ also promised his disciples that after He had returned to the Father, He would send the Holy Spirit to them to endue them with the power to carry on the work of the gospel. Both the prophecy of Joel and the promise of our Lord Jesus Christ, were fulfilled in one incident on the day of the Pentecost. This was not just a coincidence but an evidence that the both of them were speaking about the ministry of the Holy Ghost during the church age, which started from the day of Pentecost, and will continue until the glorious return if our Lord Jesus Christ.

THE CONTENT OF THE PROPHECY/PROMISE

1)The fulfillment will be an outpouring- Joel2:28

2)Upon ALL flesh- Joel2:28-29, Acts2:38

3)Recipients shall prophesy, dream and see visions- Joel2:28

4)There will be signs and wonders- Acts2:19

WRONG QUALIFICATION FOR THE HOLY GHOST BAPTISM

1)Race or tribe- Joel2:28, Acts10:44-45

2)Social status- Joel2:29

3)Age- Joel2:28

4)False motive-Acts8:18-21

 

CONDITIONS FOR RECEIVING THE HOLY GHOST BAPTISM

1) Repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Saviour of mankind- Acts2:38, John3:3-7, 1Cor12:13, Eph4:4-5

2) Thirst for the Holy Spirit- Isaiah44:3, John7:38

3) Belief in the Lord Jesus Christ-John7:38

4) Desire for the Holy Spirit- Luke11:13

5) Faith- Acts10:44, Gal3:14

6) Absolute surrender in obedience- Acts5:32

 

EVIDENCE OF THE HOLY GHOST BAPTISM

1) Boldness- Acts4:31, 2Tim1:17

2) Power to witness- Acts1:8

3) Speaking in tongues- Acts1:8

4) Joy- Rom14:17, Psa51:12, 16:11

5) Illumination of the mind- 1Cor2:12

 

We have seen that the Holy Ghost Baptism is for all, that is, all who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Master. However, the fact that this privilege is for all does not mean that all will receive it and we have seen the reasons too. The Holy Spirit Baptism is necessary for all Christians who desire to grow in Christ and bear fruit because it is the power for an effective service.

Therefore, every born again Christian should not only desire the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but must also thirst and pray for the experience.

 Finally, I pray for everyone under the sound of my voice or writing, that every power operating in your life contrary to the power of the Holy Spirit be paralyzed and I decree and declare that they depart from you in the NAME OF JESUS!!!!! I declare that the Holy Ghost fill you afresh with his fire and anointing in Jesus name!!!! You are blessed!!! It is done in Jesus name!!!!!

Beloved, I believe I have been able to impart into you another session of teaching that has had so much impact on my life and has made me 2 excel bountifully beyond measures. We are continuing our series of the teaching of the Holy spirit but this time we are in part 4!!! In this segment, we shall be discussing the symbols of the Holy Spirit!!

SYMBOLS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT(Cont’d)

Acts2:1-8, Acts1:8

In our last teaching we spoke on 2 symbols of the Holy Spirit which is FIRE AND DOVE. Now we shall be moving ahead as we consider further symbols:

3)WATER

Why is water used as a symbol of the Holy Spirit? Water is indispensable to life, so is also the Holy Spirit to a believer. By continually being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, we maintain a clean state of spiritual health- 1cor12:13, John4:13-14.

Water is an agent for cleaning. Whilst it is true that it is the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all transgressions, it is the Holy Spirit that gives us spiritual freshness and ensures that we do not contaminate ourselves anymore.

Jesus Christ when presenting the Holy Spirit’s importance to the survival of a believer says: “He that believeth on Me, as the Scriptures has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water”. (John7:37-38)

You are to spring forth living waters, ie. Edifying thoughts, acts, and ways of life that sow seeds of salvation in others. What kind of water is springing forth from your life? Is it that which poisons others, pull down God’s work or that of self destruction? I pray that God will help us all IJN!!!!

4) WINE

“And be not drunk with wine, wherein in excess; but be filled with the Spirit” (Epe5:18). The fullness of the Holy Spirit in some cases compares with drunkenness (Acts2:12-13)

Whilst the drinking of physical wine brings temporary happiness to the drinker, the Holy Spirit brings the Joy of Heaven which cannot be described in words to the believer.

Whilst the physical wine sometimes anaesthetize the drinker, being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit immune you against every satanic arrow.

Finally, as the physical wine gives seeming boldness, the Holy Spirit is a spirit of divine boldness to preach, pray and help set the captives free. The Scriptures say in 2Tim1:7-” For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”.

5) RAIN

” For as the rain cometh down and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater”. Isaiah55:10; Hosea6:3.

As the earth can neither bear fruit nor sustain any kind of life, unless it receives rain, so also is the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer who has not received the Holy Ghost baptism, cannot bear spiritual fruits. Any church worker who has not been baptised in the Holy Spirit would just be working with mere head knowledge and not as one inspired by the Holy Spirit.

A tree that is not well watered may not survive in harsh weather. Therefore, you also need to be soaked in the Holy Ghost power so as to survive in unfavourable circumstances, particularly these times of intense satanic activities. 2Tim3:1-5.

“Latter Rain” a popular phrase in the Scriptures is a comparison of God’s outpouring of the Holy Ghost in the time of the apostles and now. This, explains that ever-increasing presence of the Holy Ghost is present everywhere. I therefore command the Holy Ghost fire to purify your life to fit into God’s design for your life….(*praying*).
